Article 1:

For the debate proposal, the class was asked to come up with a debate topic and make a debate proposal for it. As an individual, I had to come up with one debate topic and make a proposal to give to the class. My topic got chosen for the actual debate we did.

While doing the debate proposal, I learned to practice speeches before you give them. I also learned to make sure every assignment I turn in, is correctly formatted. At first, I formatted my proposal opposite of what I was supposed to do. Instead of proposing the idea from the "should" perspective, I proposed from the "should not" perspective. I realized this after I finished, so I had to redo the whole assignment again.

Article #2:

In class my peers and I worked in groups of four to complete the Virtual Team Challenge or the VTC. Our task in the virtual simulation was to clean up a local city oil spill. Each group member had a different job to do. I was assigned the Grime Stopper, which is who was in charge of cleaning up the oil spill.

By completing the simulation, I learned a lot about leadership. During the simulation, I was faced with many challenges. For example, in task one I had to pick someone to contain the oil. All three potential clients seemed pretty good. I was able to narrow it down to two clients, however I couldn't decide between the two. I decided to just go with my gut and pick one. This did not go well, so I knew I needed to research more next task. So, for task two I had to pick someone to clean up the oil. Once again I had to choose between three clients even though I could easily rule one out. I then decided to go to the library and computer to look up more information on the remaining two clients. By doing more research, my choice was better for the client I chose. I learned to make sure to always base decisions on all facts and to never assume something about someone.
